Some of my favourite walks are seasonal‚ due to the wildflowers that proliferate from late April to mid-June. This walk takes you mid-way up the hill opposite the Old Station House and then a mile through bluebell carpeted woodland in May to loop back around by the river‚ enjoying carpets of wild garlic along the riverbank on the way back. An hour to an hour and a half tops‚ this is a great walk to do when you first arrive at the Old Station House to stretch those kinks out after a long drive. It is very quiet in the woods‚ so make sure you stop for a minute or two and listen to the birdsong. Last time I was up there I saw an owl - in the middle of the afternoon!
